Letter from the Owner

“Follow your heart until it feels like home”…….I came across this phrase one day and it really resonated with me. Choosing a new home for a loved one can be a very stressful and difficult decision to make. One of the definitions of home is “a place where something/someone flourishes.” At Arden Rose Senior Living , our mission is to ensure everyone feels loved, safe and heard in their new home. As a family member or guardian, you want to make sure you are choosing a community that puts their residents and their individual needs first. This is where, ‘follow your heart until it feels like home’ is so important when making this difficult decision.

My personal passion for the elderly began at a very early age, 14 to be exact. My grandmother was the Director of the Senior Citizen’s program in Oak Park, IL and was responsible for organizing all the activities and planning quarterly trips. As each grandchild graduated from 8th grade, we would travel on whatever trip was planned that summer with the senior group. Ironically, my trip was to Colorado, which was the inspiration for the design/décor of our Senior Living Homes. I became friends/pen pals with many of the Seniors from my trip to Colorado forming lifelong friendships. This experience setup the foundation for my love of the elderly and truly listening and understanding their needs.

The name Arden Rose was chosen in honor of my mother-in-law, Arden Rose Sorenson who passed away from Alzheimer’s Disease in 2009. My Mother, Joan, was also diagnosed with this debilitating disease several years later and passed away in 2024. Our family knows firsthand, the difficult decisions that need to be made when finding compassionate and personalized care for a loved one.

In 2015, my daughter, Kaylee and I (both Nurses) started Arden Rose Home Care. Our non-medical home services agency, providing individualized, compassionate care to the elderly in their homes. Our mission was to provide the best care in the home with caregivers who would treat their clients like their own family with love, dedication and commitment to their wellbeing.

We saw such a need for the continuation of care outside of the home, as care needs changed, we decided to design an individualized floor plan and build Arden Rose Senior Living Homes. We were so excited to expand our services in 2023 by offering another solution to our aging seniors. At that time, my son, Ryan (a Nurse also) joined us and in 2025, my other daughter, Emilee (an Occupational Therapist) joined us as well. So, when we say we are family owned and operated, we truly are.

Our Assisted Living and Memory Care Homes are located in Lake in the Hills next to our home care office on 3 ½ acres backing up to a beautiful, tranquil area where wildlife and birds are regularly seen and heard.

At Arden Rose, you will find dedicated care staff and personnel that truly care about you and your loved one. Our senior living homes have 16 residents in each home allowing us to personalize each care plan, meeting individual needs. Arden Rose is owned and operated by our family and all daily operations are overseen by our family ensuring your loved one is cared for as we would care for our own family. Our focus is to create a warm, welcoming environment where residents feel safe, supported, respected and truly at “home”.

Whether you are a family exploring options or a professional partner seeking a trusted resource, we are honored to be part of that journey. We welcome the opportunity to answer questions, offer guidance, and help you find the right “home” for your loved one. From our family to yours, Laurel
